At Integrated Physicians Medical Group we have been successful at treating and managing foot pain associated with bunions, Morton’s neuroma, plantar fasciitis, and heel spurs. We will provide a thorough clinical examination and gait analysis to determine the exact diagnosis and proper treatment.
Bunions are the result of a genetic disorder causing a misalignment of the big toe by the use of ill-fitting or tight shoes. This produces an unsightly bump on the side of the big toe and causes the toe to angle or go under the second toe resulting in all toes becoming misaligned. There is severe pain experienced in the area where the bone of the big toe separates itself from the rest of the foot.
Morton’s Neuroma is a condition that affects the nerves that run between the metatarsal bones of the foot. Symptoms include pain, burning, numbness, and tingling on the ball of the foot in the area between two of the toes of the foot. Much of the time a morton’s neuroma is caused by the use of narrow or high-heeled shoes.
Plantar Fasciitis is the irritation and swelling of the muscles and ligaments on the bottom of the foot caused by an over stretching of the fibrous tissue. This often causes pain in the heel of the foot as well as in the arch. Plantar fasciitis is caused by an over pronated gait, high arches, flat fee, standing or running for extensive periods, being overweight, wearing worn out shoes, or having tight Achilles tendons or calf muscles.
Heel Spurs are small, boney calcification on the heel bone. Often times the heel spur is caused by plantar fasciitis. It is common in athletes who run and jump quite often and on hard surfaces. Other causes include an abnormal gait, being over-weight, and wearing poorly fitted or worn out shoes.
